This season we are doing a large project done in 3 parts that is based on the Oolichan Harvesting Season as per the Nisga’a Harvest wheel.
We are currently doing part 1- which is having the students re-create the structures and materials necessary for processing the oolichan into different types of preserved foods. Attached are some finished projects and the photos. In the second part we will be assigning the reading and vocabulary activities to do with the Oolichan harvesting. Third , we will have descriptions of the tools and then require them to illustrate them in 2-3D drawings.
