Summer Rec’n’Read will start July 8, 2019 and will run for three weeks ending on July 26, 2019. It is open to students in grades 1-7.
Parents who are interested in their children attending Rec’n’Read can call AAMES at 250-621-3277 to leave a message or contact the principal, Mrs. Swinn, at email@example.com. The school needs to know numbers of students in order for the program to run.
Interested parents will be asked to fill in a registration form before the program begins.
Parents and community members are invited to attend a meeting to learn more about the FNESC Language and Culture grant. School committee members will report back on their participation and implementation of the grant initiatives. The community committee will also review the grant budget and discuss next steps for remaining monies.
The meeting will take place in the Nisga’a Language room at AAMES, starting at 3:30. Snacks and coffee/tea will be provided.
The grade 2/3 class will be participating in a village clean up activity during school hours the week of May 27. Parents are asked to send students to school with gloves and dressed in appropriate clothing/footwear. This activity meets the requirements of the BC curriculum for the core competency of Social Responsibility and the curricular competency for Science, “Contribute to care for self, others, school, and neighbourhood through personal or collaborative approaches”. For more information, please contact Mrs. McDonald.
Students will be dismissed at 2:00 on June 12, 2019 and are asked to return to school with their families for Family Literacy Night.
